Play open strings
Students will repeat after me as I play rhythms on specific open strings. Start with just
playing one string at a time then incorporating chant as well. Play an open E and say an open
E etc.
Attend to individual students who need help/guidance. Demonstrate before having the
students do it.
Louie Louie
Students will repeat after me as I play the louie song for them.
Play louie louie for the kids.
Explain that there are only three notes in this song. (GCD)
Start with the first note. Then add in the second and third notes.
Demonstrate the strum pattern or rhythm.
Have students sing back to you the rhythm/tune.
Start with st6 ft3 (G) / st5 ft3 (C) / st5 ft5 (D)
Let students practice on their own for 30 sec.
Then let them show the class and yourself if they got it.
(Try to have everyone demonstrate if they got it explain that you will help them guide)

1. Get down, get funky, get loose. (focus of this game is one rhythm and following the leader, further
development can include creativity and improve from the students to create their own movements or
lead the game)
1. For Observation during class direct instruction and performing activity to gauge student-learning
needs.
2. For Verbal Feedback will be giving to students during performance activity to address learning
needs.
3. For Questioning techniques will be used to check for understanding during class discussion and
individual tasks. Question format will be guided to help foster independent thought.
