Section III: School Library Media Center Services Overview
Circulation Policy
Students & Parents

Students may check out up to four books at a time.


Books/E-readers are to be returned within two weeks.
Reference materials are for in-house use only. No check out available
A late fee of 5 cents per day will be charged.
Fines will be charged for damaged books.
All items must be returned and/or replacement/damaged fee paid in order to
receive a report card and/or diploma.

Staf

Teachers may check out any available equipment from the Media Center (i.e.

laptops, projectors, movies)


Teachers are encouraged to return or renew items after 3 weeks.
Items to be used over the summer will require the completion of a Loan Form
and the approval of an administrator.

Scheduling
The Media Center will open 30 minutes before the start of the school day and
remain open 45 minutes after school has ended. Extended hours will be offered
throughout the year for special activities and for major project deadlines. See the
Media Center calendar for the extended hour schedule. The Media Center may be
used outside the regular schedule with the supervision of a teacher and the
approval of an administrator.
Services
For Students

Media Center Orientation - students are given a tour of the Media Center, a
tutorial on finding books in the online catalog and given a bookmark

containing important information regarding the Media Center.


Research Workshop - students will be taught how to find credible sources, use
reference materials, online tools such as Galileo and taught when and how to

correctly cite.
Writers Workshop - in collaboration with the Literature department, the
Media Center will hold Writers Workshops for students needing help with

writing skills and formatting.


Office 365 - All students will have access to Office 365 and be given an

orientation/tutorial on its uses


WiFi Setup - Each student is given a password for the schools Wi-Fi. See the

Media Specialist for activation.


Supply Station - Basic school/art supplies are available for student use.
School Store - Other school supply items (posters, sheet protectors, etc.) are
available for purchase.

For Teachers

Curriculum Collaboration - The Media Staff will help teachers find any

resources available to aid in the classroom.


Website Instruction - Tutorials will take place in the Media Center for tips on

maintaining your teacher webpages.


Technology Updates - The Media Specialist will keep the faculty up to date on
the latest apps, sites and tools to optimize student engagement in the

classroom.

confidential. Your intellectual freedom and creative expression will in no way be
infringed upon while in our facility. There will be no discrimination on the basis of
