Professional Responsibilities
After scrolling through different websites trying to find a virtual science field trip
experience, I finally found one. It is about the Smithsonian Museum in Washington. I have been
there in real life and I thought it would be cool to compare the online version to my actual
experience and see if there are similarities, etc.
The virtual field trip was pretty cool overall. It was just as I remember a lot of things
being. You are able to click on what department you want to visit (since there are several). The
tour provides you with pictures along with information about certain things. I was not really able
to find any videos or anything of that sort to go along with all of this, but I thought the pictures
and information was just as well.
I think that this could be used in class. I would say around 6 grade and above is when it
would be best to be used as a field trip assignment. It is very informal and covers a lot of history
and artifacts and I think if it were used for any younger ages, then it would not provide its full
purpose and would just be a waste of time. When I attended the Smithsonian my senior of high
school on my senior trip, I would have to say it was a good place to go. It has a lot to explore for
all different interests and I think that it is good to go explore all of this.
