NAEYC Statement of Commitment

As an individual who works with young children, I, Maria Del Carmen Ramirez, commit
myself to furthering the values of early childhood education as they are reflected in the
ideals and principles of the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct. To the best of my ability I
will:
- Never harm children
- Ensure that programs for young children are based on current knowledge and
research of child development and early childhood education
- Respect and support families in their task of nurturing children
- Respect colleagues in early childhood care and education and support them in
maintaining the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct
- Serve as an advocate for children, their families, and their teachers in
community and society
- Stay informed of and maintain high standards of professional conduct
- Engage in an ongoing process of self-reflection, realizing that personal
characteristics, biases, and beliefs have an impact on children and families
- Be open to new ideas and be willing to learn from the suggestions of others
- Continue to learn, grow, and contribute as a professional
- Honor the ideals and principles of the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct
Ethical Responsibilities to Children
My goal as a Co-Teacher is to help children to use and express their ideas, feelings and
thoughts in their own words. I will respect childrens conversations by listening to them
without interrupting and getting to their level making eye contact so they can feel that
their conversations are important for me.
Ethical Responsibilities to Families
I maintain my commitment to professionalism by acknowledging that the parent is the
primary teacher for their child. I encourage parents to participate and reassure the
parents all personal information that is given to us on the child or family will be held in
strict confidentiality.
Ethical Responsibilities to Colleagues
Keeping my grades stable and doing my homework also having good communication
with my peers and teachers. Good attendance and take my responsibilities serious.

Responsibilities to co-workers
Good communication with my teachers and work together as a team.
Responsibilities to employers
Follow companys policies and take care my responsibilities as a co-workers.

Ethical Responsibilities to Community and Society

I supporter for quality education for children in the community and Society
Individual. Also to respect children and families cultures and religion, I make the feel
welcome to our center with a smile and a greeting.

Individual
I increase my bilingual knowledge education by translating paperwork voluntarily when
asked and attending to workshops.
Collective
I obtain information that might be helpful for familys needs such as low cost clinics,
community food bank, low cost rent etc.
