Reflection 3

SLO 3: Understand and explain theory of plate tectonics.

I chose this artifact because it was one of the first assignments that discusses plate
tectonics. As this being a discussion assignment it really helped me understand and
classify plate boundaries. I had to share 2 locations where unique plate tectonic
features are shown. In addition we also had to identify two classmates works by
listing the type of plate boundaries occur and what type of features exist. This
assignment incorporated Google Earth to help identify these features which helped
me to get more familiar with utilizing this program. This is the best exemplifies my
understanding of plate tectonics because we had to take blank maps and classify
them in order to test students understanding of plate tectonics and how they form
along with the types of formations. By completing this assignment I utilized my
learning from week 3 modules to help me identify different types of plate tectonics
from around the world. I learning different definitions such as ocean ridge and rift
valley it in turn helped with classifying what type of boundaries occurred at different
sites provided by classmates.

My knowledge of plate boundaries have improved in completing this

assignment. By being given pictures of different sites and having the
exercise of classifying sites. It has helped me in practice to identify different
forms of plate tectonics.
2. My analytical skills have improve as a result of completing this assignment. I
had to use what I learned from week 3 to analyze various maps and
showcasing my understanding for the subject matter. This assignment has
given me familiarity with plate tectonics.
3. I had not done a lot of screenshot uploading to discussion boards before
completing this assignment. I had to figure out how to best resize and post
my assignment for the week. I feel that this assignment has helped in
getting familiar with posting discussion boards and upload picture files to
discussions, which in turn has helped me with future assignments that
required uploading picture files and taking screenshots.
