: 30 second Kean news story

On January 29, 2010 The Human Rights Institute at Kean University will hold its third

annual Human Rights conference. This year the theme of the conference is combating

hatred. It will be held in the Wilkins Theater at 8 am. The conference includes a free

lunch and you must register to attend. The main speaker will be Morris Dees, who is the

founder and chief trial counsel for the Southern Poverty Law Center in Montgomery,

Alabama. Other speakers will include Mark Weitzman, who is director of Government

Affairs and the director of the Task Force against Hate and Terrorism for the Simon

Wiesenthal Center, as well as David L. D’Amico, detective in the Office of Monmouth

County Prosecutor. The goal of the conference is to raise awareness among students,

faculty, scholars, and the general public of human rights violations worldwide.
