ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY

SEMESTER I REVIEW
1. Students should know the definition of anatomy and physiology.
2. Should know the anatomical terms of direction.
3. Should know the action terms and be able to give an example of
each.
4. Should know the planes of the body and body cavities.
5. Should know the different system of the human body and be able
to give examples of organs for each of the systems and a
function of each system covered this semester.
6. Know the levels of organization and be able to list them in order
from atom to organism.
7. Know the characteristics of the four primary tissues.
8. Give examples of the epithelial, connective, muscle and nervous
tissue.
9. Be able to give examples of where the 18 tissues are found in the
body.

Be able to identify the tissue of the human body.

Label the layers and structures of the skin.
12.
What are five functions of the skin?
13.
Explain how skin color varies.
14.
What are the lines of the defense for over heating and
hypothermia?
15.
Distinguish between sebaceous and sweat glands.

What are the 5 senses in the skin?

Understand how the body regulates temperature.

Be able to list 5 functions of the skeletal system.

Know the type of joints in the human body and give and

Know how bone is formed and maintained.

Know the difference between tendons and ligaments.

Know and be able to describe the types of fractures.

Know the different shapes of bones; flat, short, long and
irregular.

Know the parts of a joint.

Know the parts of a long bone.

Know the major muscles of the human body.

Name, describe and give an example of the three types of
muscles.

List the functions of muscles.

Describe what an antagonistic muscle is.

Know the anatomy of a muscle; fascia, epimysium,
perimysium, fascicle, endomysium, muscle fiber, myofibril.

Be able to explain the sliding filament theory.

What causes rigor mortis?

Know the action terms.

Know the functions of the nervous system.

Know the parts of the brain, lobes of the brain.

Know the organization of the nervous system; CNS, PNS,

parasympathetic, sympathetic

Know the structures make up the Central nervous system?
Know the structures of the Peripheral nervous system.
42.
Be familiar with the 12 cranial nerves.
43.
Be able to label the attached drawings.
