Key Messages:
1. Wrong-site surgery is a surgery done to the incorrect location of the body
2. Wrong-site surgery is a rare occurrence and can be fixable
3. Pre-surgery steps are implemented to ensure the safety of the patient and the success of
the surgery
CCO Theory:
We as a hospital are very sorry about this event and the impact it had on the three patients.
I am confident moving forward that we can assure you that our patients will continue to receive
the best care in the region and that we as a hospital have made improvements by implementing
necessary steps that surgeons and surge techs will have to take prior to surgery.
In the future, I believe our hospital will prevent any further errors by the implementation of our
pre surgery steps and continue to ensure the health and safety of our patients.
