Learning a language is like learning a skill in many

ways. If we compare learning a language to playing
tennis, we can appreciate the value of practice. Both
types of learning require practice. Moreover, we can
see how important it is to know exactly what you are
practicing.

Learning a skill, such as language use, is very different

from learning a subject, such as history. We can
neither rush the process of learning to play tennis nor
learning a language, because both skills develop over
time.
