Dear Selection Committee:

After achieving my first hit during a travel team baseball game, I realized I wanted to be involved in baseball
one way or another. After ending my baseball career, Ive always dreamed of working for a very respectable and
professional baseball organization. Ive heard that you have an internship opportunity for this summer. I am
sincerely interested in this position because I can make a difference. The legendary Babe Ruth stated, You just
cant beat the person who never gives up. Using this quote for the majority of my life, I feel I am in the
position to apply for this internship and would make a great asset to the organization through my endless work
ethic and possessing sensitivity in meeting diverse needs in any situation. I am not the person who gives up
facing adversity, but will learn in the process how to make myself mentally stronger. Since I was born in Japan
and my family lives there, I possess the ability to see situations in two different perspectives. Additionally, I am
a strong, focused individual who loves working with others and relates well with people from different
backgrounds.

As an intern at your organization, I can offer endless potential. I have the reputation for always giving a
hundred percent effort mirrored by my 3.7 GPA and my induction to the Deans List at Gonzaga University.
Not only do I have the passion to work hard in the classroom but I have the passion to help and work for a
professional baseball organization. Importantly, I have the desire to always be on time which means at
least fifteen minutes early to any event. Through Gonzaga University, I have learned and implemented
many theories regarding people management, diverse organizations and the psychological aspects of
sports. Beyond the classroom, I have been on multiple baseball teams throughout my career, most notably
the baseball team at Fresno City College where we were ranked second in the northwest. I have the
perspective of an athlete but the mind and goals of a student.

Additionally, I have the skills and knowledge from Gonzaga University to fulfill the qualifications for this
internship. The tiring work in the Sports Management program have developed me into a more
knowledgeable citizen, observer, student and most importantly and strong minded individual. These traits
will translate nicely to this position and even my future career goals of becoming a great asset to a great
professional organization.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and consider my acceptance to the internship program. I will
be waiting and excited for this opportunity. You can reach me at kazuma.kaneko@att.net and 415-309-
4761.

Sincerely,

Kazuma Kaneko
