learning so I can make sure every child is getting the opportunity to learn and understand the material. I would like to learn more about different reading and writing workshops along with different ways to teach and help children with disabilities learn and discover new things around them, I would like to continue to keep up to date with my schooling and take opportunities to take new classes that will help expand my knowledge on the early childhood education setting. The theorists that help guide my teaching philosophy include Lev Vygotsky, Jean Piaget, and Maria Montessori. Lev Vygotsky quoted, “What a child can do today with assistance, she will be able to do tomorrow by herself.” To me, this quote says that if I am able to assist children \with their learning they will eventually be able to do things on their own without my assistance. Jean Piaget quoted, “Play is the answer to how anything new comes about.” as well as “Play is the work of childhood.” These quotes help explain how important play is to children’s development and learning. Children learn and discover through play although most people don’t consider play to be a way of learning. My teaching philosophy best fits with Maria Montessori’s philosophy. She has several great quotes that help explain how I want my teaching style to be and develop. These include, “ There is a great sense of community within the Montessori classroom, where children of differing ages work together in an atmosphere of cooperation rather than competitiveness. There is respect for the environment and for the individuals within it, which comes through experience of freedom with the community.” Maria Montessori also quoted, “Do not tell them how to do it. Show them how to do it and do not say a word. If you tell them, they will watch your lips move.
