2) Have students participate in a Kahoot quiz on their mobile devices about the rules of Socratic seminar.
3) Students will analyze practices of the Ibo people from Things Fall Apart, discuss them in groups, and prepare questions for a Socratic seminar on the book tomorrow. Students will be assessed based on their scores on the Kahoot quiz.

Review of Rules for Socratic Seminar
1. Present power point and discuss rules for Socratic Seminar with students. 2. Students will watch video on example Socratic Seminar. 3. Students will use Kahoot on their mobile devices to participate in answering multiple choice questions about the rules and procedures of Socratic Seminar.
Students will use their own mobile devices: smart phones, ipads, iphones, android devices such as kindle fire, nexus tablet
Note: Students who do not have a mobile
device will use an ipad from the ipad cart from the school media center. OR If ipad cart is not available students can be divided into teams of 2,3, or 4 and use one students mobile device Student Work: Students will review Blooms Taxonomy and receive chart with question stems. Students will participate in a Document Based Question for Things Fall Apart, where each group looks at a practice of the Ibo people that is seen as barbaric and analyze it. Students will then Jigsaw and discuss their practice with the different practices. Students will then prepare for their Socratic Seminar tomorrow on Things Fall Apart, by developing questions.
Evaluation and Assessment: Students will be assessed according
to their scores on the Kahoot app to assess their knowledge of the procedures and rules for Socratic Seminar.
