The healthcare field is steadily changing from what has previously been done in

years. According to the text, todays healthcare organization is more like an

organizational setting. The text further states that it is now structured where the
physical confines of the medical staff are different and many of the tasks are
performed remotely such as teleradiology, telemedicine, and billing.
The health service managers role is to make sure that the facility is functioning as
expected. They are to make sure the patients are receiving the care they need and
the staff has the necessary skills to deliver that care. They will delegate to have
various managers that will make sure staffing is adequate, all training needs are
addressed and the morale of the staff is satisfactory. Some of the challenges that a
health service manager may have are finding qualified candidates to do the job,
providing competitive salaries and a good benefits package, and being aligned with
all the rules and regulations of healthcare
The management theory that I think works best is the Human resources school of
management. Employees like to feel like that they are part of the company and not
just a number who is assigned to a task. They want to know that their individual
contribution makes a difference in the lives of those that they come in contact with.
People will work much harder if they believe that what they are doing impacts the
bottom line and improve the lives of others.
