First Grade Lesson Plan Contractions
First Grade Lesson Plan Contractions
Grade: 1
Kimberly Alessio
Minutes
Opening:
1. Good morning boys and girls. Last night I went to Shop Rite and I bought
chocolate syrup and milk. When I got home I got out a cup, poured milk,
grabbed the chocolate syrup, and mixed it together with a spoon. After doing
that I realized there is a shorter way to make chocolate milk, that is buying
the chocolate syrup and milk together. Remember Contractions are a
shorter way of saying what you need to say.
Presentation:
2. The teacher will write the objective and the importance of learning this lesson
on the board.
3. The students will then watch a short clip on the board.
4. The teacher will then call the students to the carpet.
5. The teacher will hang up the contraction poster and let the students think
about what they are going to learn.
6. After the students turn and talk the teacher will introduce the poster by
reading the saying out loud.
7. The students will then repeat the saying.
8. After the teacher will hang up another poster which has contractions written
on one side and an empty line on the other side.
9. The teacher will do the first couple of contractions together and then the
students will have the opportunity to write on their white boards. (white
boards will be organized before the lesson starts)

the students back to their seats.

umbrella dont.
