Word Work Contract: Week 26


This week we are focusing on the suffix es. A suffix is a word part that comes at the end of a
root/base word. es is a suffix that means more than one (plural), with words that end in x, -s,
-o, ch or -sh.

Choose 5 of your -es words and write a sentence using each word correctly. A good 3 rd
grade sentence has 5-8 words and begins with a capital letter and ends with punctuation.
Story time! Use all your spelling words to create a story. Write your spelling word in
BOLD print!
Have a parent or older sibling give you a practice test and have them sign it. You will be
expected to know the meaning of the word.
Write each word in alphabetical order and draw a quick picture next to each word to
show its meaning.
Type your list 4 times on a computer, with each list typed in a different/fun font. Print
it out and turn it in!
Word Pyramids for all your spelling words. Start with the first letter of the word on the
top line. Add the next letter and put the first two letters on the second line. Keep going
from there.
Write your words with something unique (ex. Shaving cream, spaghetti, salt, etc.) and
take a picture. Please email to your teacher! DO NOT bring it to school.
Use the QR code from your agenda and a mobile device to do the online activity related
to your spelling words.
