Questionnaire Reflection

After listening to the students responses to the questionnaire, I realize

how important it is to get to know them. I would have never thought
that students want to feel like they are being challenged. Obviously, I
will challenge my students; however, I did not know that a majority of
them look forward to the challenge. Also, students are not blind to
favoritism and it is my job to ensure that there is an equal playing field
in my classroom. Unfortunately, some students do feel like they are
treated as if they are dumb, which will never be the case in my
classroom. It is important that we acknowledge students, even if they
are wrong. The last thing teachers should do is belittle them by raising
their voices or slowly talking to them, which was the most unfortunate
finding from my questionnaire.
My Intern Mentor Teacher provided me with some great feedback from
on his questionnaire. The biggest takeaway from his responses are to
always expect high expectations for myself and my students. It is very
easy for teachers to set high expectations for their students, but
accept mediocre effort from themselves.
