Curriculum Title: Kindergarten Operations and Algebraic Thinking

Utah State Standard: Kindergarten Math Common Core K.OA Operations and Algebraic
Thinking

Objective(s): Students will understand addition.

Materials: PowerPoint, white board and laminated shapes

Background for Teachers: Knowledge of addition

Intended Learning Outcomes: Students will be able to understand adding is putting together

Instructional Procedure: 1) put power point up 2) give students laminated shapes 3) go through
each step of the power point allowing each student to work the laminated shapes into the
problem of the slide

Family Connections (take home activity): Take laminated shapes home and have parents assist
in practicing problems similar to the in class work.

Assessment Plan: Walk around the room and look or observe the laminated shapes to make sure
they have the correct equations and answers.
