My Philosophy on Education

My philosophy on education encompasses many components. It is not a few ideas. I

believe that every child is entitled to an education. It is up to the adults in society to make sure
that every child has the same opportunities and experiences to learn, grow and develop. We need
to value every child. They are the future of our country.
School is not just a place to grow academically but a place to grow socially and to
become good citizens as well. Our children will learn this by starting out as citizens in their
classroom, where they will learn how to get along with others as well as learning self-regulation.
This is the foundation to learning how to take care of themselves and what behaviors are
acceptable in society. It is idealistic to believe that everything that children need to learn, they
will get from their parents.
I also believe that while testing is important it is not everything. We need to look at the
whole child and not assume because they do not test well that they are dumb. There are so many
ways to assess a child other than a standard test.
It is important to create lifelong learners and to realize that this is for all of us, not just
our students. I love the ah ha moments when you see the light bulb come on. That is why I want
to be a teacher.
