Thefocusofthislabreportistoaddressbaseline&exercisedataofthe
cardiovascularandrespiratorysystems.Theheartpumps7000litresofbloodthrough
thebodyeachday.Heartsizevarieswithbodysize.Anadultsheartsisgenerallyabout
14centimeterslongand9centimeterswide.Theheartisprotectedbythevertebral
column,sternum,andthelungsandcoveredbythepericardium.Anelectrocardiogram
(EKG)graphicallyrepresentselectricaleventsthatoccurwithintheheart.Theheartrate
istestingtheRRsequencewhichismerelyafifthofasinglebeatwhichiscomposed
ofP,Q,R,S,andTwaves.Impulsesareconductedonphrenicnervestomusclefibers
inthediaphragm,contractingthem.Carbondioxideisformedduringaerobiccellular
respiration,whenmoleculessuchasglucose,fattyacids,andaminoacidsarebroken
downtomakeATP.ThepHofbloodisdeterminedbytheconcentrationofhydrogen
ionsintheblood.

Whathappenstoallofthedatacollectedafterexercising?

Hypothesis:
IbelievethatthepHlevelswilldecrease,theEKGdataandthespirometerdatawill
increaseduetomoreoxygenandcarbondioxidebeingprocessed.

Theequipmentusedintheexperiments
Thesafetyequipmentusedinthislabexperimentisveryrudimentaryinthatonly
glovesandgogglesforthespirometersprobeiodine.Theothertestsdidnotneedany
safetyequipmentexceptforcommonknowledge.

TheEKGtestsrequiredforsomeonetobehookedupbytheEKGtabsforthe
labquesttablettoprocessthetest.ThepHtestingwasexecutedbytakingthepHlevel
ofthewaterbeforeandafterblowingintothewaterfor40seconds.Thelasttestwas
donebyblowingintothebag,oncebyjusttakinganormalbreathinandout,then
normalbreathinbutblowoutasmuchaspossible,finallytakinginasmuchairas
possibleandblowingasmuchaspossibleout.

whenyouexercise,yourbpmgoesup,butthetimingsgetshorterandshorter.
