Biblical Integration:
Throughout the Bible it is evident that God created us with the ability to design and measure
geometric shapes and structures, use arithmetic, critically and algebraically think, build, and have
an awareness of percentages to fulfill his purpose for our lives on earth. (Ref. 1Kings 7:23; Ps.
90:12; Gen. 6:15-16; 1Kings 6:2-3; Luke 14:28;Gen. 6:19-20; Matt: 10:30; Malachi 3:8-10)
Objectives: in a whole group lesson for the week teacher will use the classroom math board to
review calendar concepts of days in a week, months in a year, week after, next week, tomorrow,
yesterday; how to combine pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters; identify 1/2 , , and 1/3; how
to identify and continue a pattern; how to solve one-step word problems; how to identify shapes
and objects that into like categories; to read and create a graph - SOL Standards: 1.3, 1.11, 1.17,
1.6, 1.16, 1.12
Vocabulary: week, month, year, graph, picture graph, bar graph, tally mark graph, tomorrow,
yesterday, next week, week before, fraction, part, sum, nickel, dime, penny, quarter, pattern,
triangle, rectangle, square, circle, cone, cylinder, rectangular prism, cube
Materials: document cam, class and home computer; xtramath.org, abcya.com Bob Jones

Center activities: adding spelling words; math wheel activity (all concepts); math computer
games; math carpet games
Procedure:
Teacher will complete math board with students; teacher will go over fraction of the day, pattern
of the day, word problem of the day, month, day and year; teacher will have students pick a topic
out of a bucket and make a graph answering the question (ex. what did you bring for lunch;
teacher will allow students to group a hand full of shapes in their correct groups; Teacher will
teach and review BJU concept of the day Lessons 36 Review Calendar Concepts
Differentiation:
Math Group A (Whole Group) Math Board, Calendar Graph Review
Math Group B1 (Advanced) Fraction concepts 1/5, 1/6, 1/8, 1/10; 6 digit whole numbers;
subtraction with borrowing, counting up to 10,000
Math Group B2 (Mid-Advanced)- Counting up to 1,000; writing numbers up to 1,000, adding
two digits with carrying
Math Group C (Intervention): Counting, identifying and writing numbers 0-100; grouping
objects up to 100 by 10s; counting backwards from 30 to 0 SOL 1.1a, 1.1b, 1.2
Thinking Cap/Problem of the Day: Thinking Cap ABeka Lesson 116,
Assessment: Teacher will perform a diagnostic assessment using BJU Lessons Chapter Review
and Calendar; students who need extra help will sit at the kidney table/carpet with the teacher;
students who have mastered these skills will move on to the daily thinking cap problem (see
above) and then center activities; Teacher will plan Response to Intervention as needed with each
group or individually

Review for Test; Practice Addition and Subtraction Facts 1-11

Tomorrow is a BIG day! It is our LAST day to prepare for Grandparent's Day!
YIKES!!!
I have made a schedule of our day and ask that you be super prepared for a busy
schedule.
830-850 Complete Grandparent's Day cards and have students write "Happy
Grandparents Day....From:....." on theirs. Then get those out in the hallway- JessicaBe sending students to the bathroom at the same time
Line students up with lunch boxes-drop off at cafeteria
9-11 Grandparent's Day practice (yes two hours :) )
11:00-11:30 Lunch- Mallory and Jessica Break
11:30-12:00 Recess and Restroom Keisha Break
12:00-12:30 Keisha: Teach shapes - pour shapes on table- have students sort them
according to shape and as a group create a graph with 4 questions. Collect papers If
time allows discuss shape attributes using worksheet under document camera. Allow
for class participation with students coming up to the board to write answers.
Mallory and Jessica, during this time, you can be calling students up to finish Kiss
Craft, working on flower garden outside, final touches on cards, or creating a
Grandparent's Day activity to do with their grandchildren once they come in Friday to
kill time. I usually put together a word search with their grandparent's names on it.
Last year we left stationary for the grandparents to write letters to the children.
12:30-1:30 Mallory and Keisha - Crafts and Flower wall outside/we clean class*class
needs to be spick and span*
Jessica- oversee DEAR and allow students to take AR test in order of names on the
board- you will need to walk around and make sure that they are reading, signing the
board to take AR test and staying in the order on the board. They also need to fill out
a flower IF they pass the AR quiz. Make sure they write it out and put it on my black
table. Try to meet with your groups (high math and reading groups *if you're able)
You could meet with two groups for 15 minutes and then oversee DEAR for 30.
1:30-2:00 Science Lab-Jessica walk the children to SL (Jessica and Keisha clean)
2:00-2:30 Snack with BIBLE

Make sure everyone is packed up and ready to go *Jessica- you can do this while I
teach Bible*
2:30-3:00 Book Fair- We'll only take those who are purchasing. Jessica you can stay
with those who are not and allow them to read and take AR quizzes or watch a video.
3:00-315 Puzzles, put head down
315- Room Moms coming in to decorate! :) We will help them!
