Leadership Roles and Community Internships

President of Drake Universitys student chapter of the American


Choral Directors Association
o Elected president of the organization for the 2015 year
o Contacted area teachers to ask if they would be willing to
come to speak with our organization
o Brainstormed music and teaching topics of interest and
need
o Communicated with chapter members monthly to organize
meeting times, dates, and locations
Secretary of Drake Universitys student chapter of the National
Association for Music Educators
o Elected secretary of the organization for 2013-2014 and
2014-2015
o Communicated with chapter members monthly to organize
meeting times, dates, and locations
o Brainstormed music and teaching topics of interest and
need
o Helped to collect membership payments from chapter
members
Soprano Section Leader, Drake Choir and Chamber Choir
o Selected as the soprano section leader for the Drake Choir
and Chamber Choir from August 2014-December 2015,
until I began my student teaching
o Lead segments of every rehearsal, teaching the sopranos
how to make a warm sound and sing together, as well as
sing the correct notes and rhythms with the appropriate
musical choices, taking charge of their learning
o Act as a role model, both musically and personally for
peers, especially for first and second year students
Intern for Heartland Youth Choir, Fall 2015
o Chosen as the one student to intern with their organization
this fall
o Lead segments of rehearsals with the Cantemus choir each
week, consisting of 6-8 graders
o Individually taught two 3-part pieces from start to finish
over the course of the semester
o Conducted these pieces on stage at their Fall and Winter
concerts

performance dates, times, and dress
Intern at the Iowa Choral Directors Association Symposium
o Worked for the management to ensure everything ran
smoothly, while attending the information sessions during
the summer 2015
