In collaboration with Mrs. Fran George, I have conducted an indepth evaluation of the Americus Sumter High School Media Center
Program. To guide this evaluation, we utilized the 2015 Judy Serritella
Exemplary Library Media Program Self-Evaluation Rubric. This rubric
evaluates the Media Center using 22 indicators in the following 6
categories: 1) Student Achievement and Instruction, 2) Technology, 3)
Staffing, 4) Facilities, Access and Resources, 5) Administrative
Support, and 6) Staff Development. Indicators within each category
were rated as Basic, Proficient, and Exemplary.
Of the 22 indicators, our Media Center earned a rating of
Exemplary for 1 measure, Proficient for 14 measures, and Basic for 7
measures. An action plan has been created with methods to move all
Basic-rated indicators to Proficient. Additionally, the action plan
includes methods to move one indicator rated as Proficient to
Exemplary. The marked-up rubric and the action plan have both been
attached for your review and consideration.
