How does the Intern manage student behavior and create rapport with and among students in an
environment of respect?
Miss Gaddie created a rapport with the students by having the students complete a Who I Am sheet that
allowed the student to give selected information about themselves and express it in writing and drawing. She
models respect and the students show respect for her and each other. She is professional yet approachable.

How does the Intern effectively and safely use physical space / proximity to enhance learning for all
students (If relevant, specifically address lab safety)?
The desks were prearranged by the classroom teacher into six columns and five rows. The desks are such that
they can be easily manipulated into groups of four to form a table top that is conducive to group work and
labs. Miss Gaddie is effective at walking around, using proximity, to guide the transition and encourage on task
behavior.

How does the Intern manage classroom procedures to maximize time for instruction?
Miss Gaddie established the procedures the first day (Bell ringer and transitions through the gradual release of
responsibility model). She is able to manage transition from individual to group work back to individual work.
She lectures and works one-on-one with ease and professionalism. She knows the subject matter.
How does the Intern establish classroom standards that foster a culture of learning for all students?
Miss Gaddie established a culture of learning at the very beginning. She introduced herself and talked about
her education. Then she discussed the importance of science learning. She has acknowledged their different
learning styles. When the first quiz produced an average score of 38%, she gave the opportunity for
remediation and an increase in each grade.
