Martin Luther King Jr.
Martin Luther King Jr. was a man who possessed many powerful beliefs that forever
changed the world. Ernest Withers photo of Martin Luther King Jr. portrays many incredibly
symbolic messages. In this photo, King symbolizes hope and justice for those who were dealing
with segregation. The photo shows King waving to his audience as he gives his incredibly
powerful I have a dream speech at the Lincoln Memorial. The picture displays an immense
amount of progression that King and his supporters have made in their battle against segregation.
Although they have gone through unjust treatment, King and his supporters remained peaceful in
their battle. They refrained from using violent or evil-minded approaches. Instead, King
encouraged his people to boycott the buses and take other peaceful approaches in order to make a
statement.
This picture is poetic because of what Martin Luther King Jr. stands for. Martin Luther
King Jr. embodies the virtues of a truly poetic leader. The way he inspires and keeps his
supporters in line is remarkable. Throughout the movement, he faced many obstacles. However,
he did not let his adversities deter him from his ultimate goal. Kings strong desire and selfmotivation was also quite poetic. When people attacked his personal life, King maintained his
temper and refused to let his raw emotions take over. Furthermore, the cause for which he was
fighting for was incredibly poetic. King fought for the equal rights of everyone. The belief that
everyone should be equal is poetic. Even the Declaration of Independence states that Everyone
has the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. In addition, it is quite unpoetic of the

government to contradict their very own beliefs. Without Kings endeavors, the modern society
may be drastically different from what it is today.
