My first location will be the living room, which will be where Raj is telling
her parents about her relationship with Zaid. This location is shown in the
flashback, which she is having while she sits at the bus stop waiting for
the bus. Having a picture of Baba Ji in the scene will indicate that Raj is
from a religious and traditional family, which leaves the audience in
suspense of how the parents will act when Raj tells them about her
relationship. The dull colours within the scene will cause suspension to the
audience that something is about to happen. In the background, Indian
hymns are playing showing more of their religious side. Raj will be wearing
the bottoms of her salwar kameez and her dupatta, however does not
wear the whole full outfit but wears a black top. She wears bright red
lipstick and wears a black top; instead of wearing the whole outfit this
shows her rebellious side. I have chosen this location as it has good
lighting, this location is key as it shows different elements of Rajs family,
it shows how rebellious Raj is compared to her parents. Her parents are in
fact dressed up in traditional clothing, showing more of a religious side to
her family compared to her. My key shot within this scene is showing her
seeing with her parents and showing Rajs mother and the scene to show
her mum slapping her, showing her reaction to what Raj has told them.
This scene in particular is
important as it
allows the audience to
understand what
her parents reaction is to what
she has told
them and also to understand
how her
upbringing is as they will be
able to see the
setting. I will edit this particular
shot, to show
that it is a flashback.

My second location is along the house at a bus stop, this is where Raj will
have a flashback allowing the audience to see the location and the
setting. This location will be when Raj runs away from home and
approaches the bus stop and sits down with the bag full of clothes beside
her. Raj will be wearing her black trousers, black top and have her chunni

wrapped around her head. Still showing the fact that she respects herself
and her parents enough to keep the chunni wrapped around. During this
scene the kara on her arm will be visible, symbolising her religion. Her
body language leading up to his particular shot shows how she is feeling,
showing her dragging her drag her bag along and showing her staring
blankly ahead. The location is easily accessible and I am able to take
various different shots. I will be using an establishing shot showing the
audience her surroundings and then a close up showing her facial
expressions. This shot make the audience question Raj and what she is
able to do.

My final setting is at the Canal bank located at Queen Marys university,

this is easily accessible. My transport to this particular place is by train,
ensuring that all my equipment is kept with me. The location has quite an
open space and this is the ending of my sequence, showing both Zaid and
Raj. The cinematography for these shots will be establishing shots, long
shots and close ups, in my opinion this location creates suspense as the
audience wont know why she has come to this particular location. The
shots that I will take here will be simple to take, allowing the audience to
see the atmosphere more. Raj will still have her traditional clothing and
her chunni wrapped around her. This is the scene where Zaid finds Rajs
belongings on the side of the canal bank. Raj enters the canal bank and
walks alongside and sits down, her belongings will be shown on the side of
the canal bank and the scarf hanging down into the water.
