The show starts at 7 p.m., here on campus, in the Guarancini Fine and Performing Arts Centers Luciano Theatre. Over 20 artists will be presenting original poetry, and while admission is free, donations are encouraged and gratefully accepted. All money will be collected at the door, and goes to the Media Club whose advisor, Professor Renee Post, produces the event. Co-founded by Post and one of her former students, CCC graduate Daniel Carter, the latter views slam poetry as an outlet to share stories in a creative art form. Post also uses the event as a form of hands-on learning for her public relations and special events classes, utilizing her students to promote the event using the skills they have learned, and to work it through volunteering. Such grants them experience in both the technical and physical aspects of their chosen field.
