Gov. Greg Abbott, who appointed Fish to a six-year term in December 2015, has accepted her resignation, a spokesperson said. Fish submitted her resignation by email Tuesday afternoon.

    It is with a heavy heart that I offer my immediate resignation to you from the Sabine River Authority. You were
    gracious in offering me this opportunity to serve, but due to circumstances beyond my control its become apparent
    that to best serve Texas and the Sabine River Authority, I should not continue in this role. Thank you for your
    confidence in me.
