Genre
Electronic

What are the conventions of music videos from this genre?

Very stylized and heavy use of visual effects, normally includes a lot of electric
aspects
Music videos for house/dance music videos tend to not have many codes and
conventions, thus allow more freedom when creating an idea for a video. They tend to
feature videos about love, sexuality and things a young audience could relate towards.

How are you going to meet these conventions in your video?

Style (in-concert and as live footage; animation (stop motion, digital); interpretative; narrative;
impressionist; surrealist; pastiche; parody; referencing; homage)

The Style of the video is slightly emotional in the design, where all of the video is in
black and white with a synced strobe light effect

Costume
Normal clothing throughout that matches with the other actor, this will be jeans, jacket and a
white T-shirt

Lighting
Day time lighting is the most used, through all of the outside scenes.
Projector lighting is used for the shots where a video is projected onto the actors

Locations
Cookham and Marlow have been chosen for my locations since this is easy to access from

my house. These locations are chosen for their rustic look and open areas.

Shot types

Most shots are mid shots, but active shots will be incorporated

Research
What music videos have you watched to research your genre?
Original Latch - Disclosure song
Route 94 My Love
Bounce by The Ounce

How have these videos influenced the decisions made? Include screen shots of the key
influences

Abstract designs, such as Triangles and imagery will heavily influence my video, less colours
the better are most prominent in the videos researched, but also using a style, in My Love,
is a good idea.

Lyrics
(Never [3x])
You lift my heart up when the rest of me is down (never)
You, you enchant me even when you're not around (never)
If there are boundaries, I will try to knock them down (never)
Im latching on, babe, now I know what I have found (never)
I feel we're close enough
I wanna lock in your love
I think were close enough
Could I lock in your love, baby?
Now I've got you in my space
I wont let go of you (never)
Got you shackled in my embrace
Im latching on to you (never)
Now I've got you in my space
I wont let go of you (never)
Got you shackled in my embrace
Im latching on to you (never)
Im so encaptured, got me wrapped up in your touch (never)
Feel so enamored, hold me tight within your clutch (never)
How do you do it, you got me losing every breath (never)

What did you give me to make my heart bleed out my chest (never)?
I feel we're close enough
I wanna lock in your love
I think were close enough
Could I lock in your love, baby?
I feel were close enough
I wanna lock in your love
I think were close enough
Could I lock in your love, baby?
Now I've got you in my space
I wont let go of you (never)
Got you shackled in my embrace
Im latching on to you (never)
Now I've got you in my space
I wont let go of you (never)
Got you shackled in my embrace
I'm latching on to you (never)
Latching on to you (I'm latching on to you)
I won't let go of you (never) (No, I won't let go)
Latching on to you (How you wanna get down)
I won't let go of you
(I won't let go, I won't let go)
(I won't let go, I won't let go)

Meaning of the song

Does the song have a meaning? If so, what is it?

The majority of the song is up to interpretation, for example, many interpret the song
to be about love and holding the people close to you. But, after some research, a lot of
people interpret the song to be very eerie and creepy, latching onto someone against
their will. I disagree with this, agreeing with the first interpretation, fitting in with the
music video, created by Disclosure.

How will your visuals relate to the song? (Illustrate, Amplify or Disjuncture)
The visuals are all stylized to be electronic with light as the primary aesthetic. This will make
the song feel futuristic and edgy.

Storyboard

Think carefully about the shots you will be using. Consider the range of shots/angles
to give interest and perspective

Mood board
Create a mood board showing what look your music video will have. Add images
showing ideas of mise-en-scene, characters, costumes and colours that will be
present in the different shots.
