Executive Summary

In the recent session of the lab, the group has not given case study related to real life as
earlier they did in the labs. In this session group developed two models and the new ideas of
Vehicle and Worker were presented.
For the development of the first model, the work assigned to the group is to construct a model
where there are a bi-directional path and a vehicle in addition to the objects the team has been
given all along. The fundamental reason for this model to come up with a system in which
vehicle will carry entity whether it be a man or products or a crude material. The entity would
enter into the system through the source from that point vehicle would take it to the server where
server forms the substance at last vehicle will take the element to the sink.
In the second model, the group has developed a framework where there are two separate sources,
two workstations connected to the comparing sources and one sink giving the way out to the
elements from the framework. The main feature of this model is the worker who will move to
and fro between the workstations to do some work. At that point, once each part is processed by
a worker in the workstation, the part would leave the framework through the sink. Thats set the
example in the industry where a worker who is responsible for two workstations and deals with
parts that arrived in both workstations
Objective Statement
To Create and Run Two Models is the objective of this simulation study in the lab. The
first model foundation is on On-Demand Pickups. This model has an arrival rate that is
exponentially distributed. Vehicle lifts up the passengers who arrived at the source but have a
capacity of only two passengers can be lifted at a time. Moving further vehicle takes them to the
service area and again lifts the passengers from the departure point of the service area when the
task is completed. The vehicle has a defined speed and makes use of time to lift and drop off
passengers. Models are run and analyzed based on a situation where parts are produced on
different machines and functions are controlled by one individual.
