Investigations in Science 7 April 29, 2016

What we did this week:

This week we started our new (and last ) unit: Earths History and
Biological Evolution. I did talk to each class that we are learning about the
scientific theories and everyone has their own personal beliefs and opinions on
some of the topics we will be learning about. We are simply learning the theories
and are not trying to change anyones beliefs/opinions throughout this unit. That
being said, we started with learning about the project students will be working on
throughout the unit. They will be creating an exhibit about an extinct animal.
We have spent the week looking at geological time and how the Earth has
changed over time. Students took a walking station tour from 4.6 billions of years
ago to the present day learning about the major events that occurred during each
time period. The changes of the land masses along with temperature/climate
changes had a huge impact on the organisms that were around during the different
time periods. They completed a web-quest to learn more about each time period
and the events that occurred.
