What We Did This Week:

This week we learned about different types of bridges. We watched a video of the
Tacoma Bridge Collapse that happened in Tacoma Narrows Bridge, Washington, in 1940.
We read an article about the different types of bridges and how different style bridges
work in different ways. The area of where the bridge is built will determine the style of
bridges as well as the length of the bridge or whether the bridge is over water. Students
used 100 Popsicle sticks and wood glue to construct a bridge of their choosing. The bridge
had to be at least a foot long. We will be testing our bridges by hanging a reusable bag
from the bridge and place as many textbooks into the bag as we can fit. If the bridge is
able to hold a bag filled with books, we then will add books on top of the bridge as well.
