Project 3 Cover Letter

21 April 2016
1. For my third and final project, I was required to take one of the songs from Wabanaki
Blues and talk about the significance of the song in relation to the novel. I chose the song
Why I Sing the Blues by B.B. King and spoke about how the songs displays both intergenerational grief and highlights intersections between Native American and African
American life in the novel. In my project 3, one major pattern of revision I made was
slightly shifting my focus from historical trauma to intergenerational grief. Because I
made this change this caused me to not only analyze Monas relationship with her mother
but also the relationships between Mia and Shankdaddy as well as Del and Will.
2. An insight that helped from one of my peers was the idea to add in the section about the
intersections between Native and African Americans. This added another layer of depth to
my work.
3. Dr. Suhr-Sytsmas feedback aided my revision process with her comments on previous
projects. I made sure to double check my citing of sources as well as how clear I was in
my explanations.
4. I would further revise my project by going through and seeing if any ideas are redundant.
5. For my portfolio cover letter, I want to make sure I am clearly explaining how I achieved
the objectives of the writing course.
