Prevention Specialist
Prepare for and implement curriculum based support groups in Dallas County schools and after
school programs for children of 1st-12th grade.
Partner and coordinate with Dallas County school counselors and administrators in order to set
schedules for implementation of program services.
Develop and implement alcohol, tobacco and other drugs presentations for youth, adults, parents and
families.
Present and disseminate information pertaining to the dangers of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs at
health fairs.
Act as a liaison for community members and ensure that proper referrals and resources are being
accessed.
Be a participating member of the Alliance on Underage Drinking (ALOUD) coalition and assist in
coordinating community and family outreach events including health fairs, community forums,
annual prom tux and dress giveaway events and National Take Back Initiatives through the
Substance Abuse Prevention committees.
Update and maintain confidential files for each group, including rosters, attendance forms,
evaluations, and pre and post tests.
Maintain monthly paperwork including timesheets, mileage reports, and reimbursement forms.
