Pitch Oh no
Objective: Students will learn how to identify changes in pitches.
Grade: First/second grade
National Core Standards:
#3 Refine and complete musical work
#4 Select, analyze, and interpret musical work for presentation
#6 Convey meaning through the presentation of musical work
Process:
1. Sing the pitches soh and me to the students and include the hand
movements to demonstrate the change in pitches.
2. Explain that when you read the book, every time they hear the words
oh no they sing in response oh no in the pitches soh and me
after.
3. Next read the book.
4. Be sure to have the students do the hand movements when they sing
oh no.
Connection: Music, language arts, physical education.
Resources: The book, and space for students to sit and participate.
