Materials

Timeline
When I Was Five by Arthur Howard
Computer with Kidspiration software
Printer

Procedure

Teacher will put a timeline on the wall that


shows a few things the students have done/will
do in the past, present, and future of that school
day.
Students will sit on the carpet and teacher will
read When I Was Five by Arthur Howard.
Teacher will explain to students the difference
between the past and the present.
Teacher will point out to students some events
that occurred in the book and identify them as
being in the past or in the present.
Teacher will then explain the future to students
using the timeline on the wall.
Students will go to the computer lab and use the
software Kidspiration.
Using picture view, students will make a diagram

Assessment

to show the past, present, and future in their


lives. They will put their name and a picture
representing themselves at the top of the
diagram.
Coming from their name, students will put five
pictures about their past and five pictures about
their present. Students will type a word or two
explaining the picture under each.
Students will then type two sentences saying
what theyd like to do in the future.
Students will print out their diagrams and turn
them into the teacher.

Teacher will collect the past, present, and future


diagrams. Teacher will analyze them to see if students
followed all directions and understand the difference
between the past, present, and future in their own
lives.
