The first goal for this criterion is to provide assistance to

students with 1-to-1 contact. Throughout the year, I was

available to students during office hours, before and after
class at Riverside Elementary School, and at other times
when student requested meetings. With my STEM Village
duties this year, in the Fall I found it challenging to have set
office hours for the entire semester. In response to this
challenge, during the Spring semester I scheduled office
hours in 4 week sections and distributed them to my
students. This proved to be far more effective in providing
scheduled office hours for my students.

In addition to regular contact with my students, I also

served as the academic advisor for the 2015 Junior cohort
in the Rochester Undergraduate Education Program. In
preparation for this new role this year, I attended a
training session with Dr. Nancy Eckerson on student
advising on October 20th 2015 and a follow-up session
(after holding some advising meetings with students) on
November 3rd 2015. Dr. Eckerson provided great
resources and advice on the advising process in general,
and the specific nature of advising students in our
programs in Rochester. As an advisor, I held academic
advising appointments with my students to review their
DARS and give information on registering for classes.

My second goal for this criterion is to serve as the advisor

for a student club. In this case, continued to serve as the
Education Minnesota Student Program Advisor for the
WSU-Rochester chapter. In this role, I worked with the
EMSP leadership team with projects such as planning the
annual thank you breakfast at Riverside Central
Elementary school. In addition, I facilitated the annual
election for the EMSP leadership team.
