For this goal, I worked to create the STEM Village Advisory

board and serve on that board as STEM Village Director. I

created recruitment letters (for K-12 and Higher Education)
to be distributed to educators in SE Minnesota. I then
worked with the initial advisory group to select teacher
members representing a breadth of STEM content areas and
student grade levels. I worked with RCTC to seek 3 higher
education faculty to serve on the STEM Village Advisory
Board. I also consulted IFO President Dr. Darrel Downs
about non-education WSU faculty members serving on the
board. I then worked with Dean Portman and to seek
appointment of 3 WSU faculty to the STEM Village Advisory
Board, and received notice of their appointments in January
2016.

The STEM Village Advisory Board consists of 3 elementary

teachers, 3 secondary teachers and 6 higher education
faculty members, in addition to the STEM Village Director.
The STEM Village Advisory Board meets 4 times annually
(2 times for the 2015 2016 academic year). The board
met on February 29th 2016, and will meet again on May 9th
2016. The members of the board had many good ideas
and will help to further the mission of STEM Village.
