Technical Findings

The nodal I , was facing repeated back fire problem through the
last week, so maintenance team perform some actions to solve
that problem such as measuring air to fuel ratio and replace spark
plugs and replacing the carburetor butterfly gate left side and due
to many trails to start the unit the air starter motor had been
malefaction and replace it.
On Friday 22 April at 9:00 pm the unit had been started and we
found that the exhaust muffler had fractures in the middle and
also high pressure in oil pan and the oil is ejected for the oil pan
due to that high pressure. So, we decided to replace the exhaust
muffler and perform compression test to verify if the high
pressure of the oil pan is due to the muffler malefaction or due to
piston rings malefaction.
On Saturday23 April, dismantle the exhaust muffler and perform
compression test for all cylinder heads and found that cylinder 5L
has high pressure which means that it has incompressible
material inside it, so we perform force starting to eject the
incompressible media out of the cylinder (Marche without ignition)
and we found water inside the cylinder. So, dismantle the said
cylinder head to be replaced.
On Sunday 24 April, replace exhaust muffler and the said cylinder
then perform compression test for the cylinder but unfortunately
we still have water inside the cylinder which can be due to
internal crack in the exhaust muffler double segment or the new
cylinder itself has problems and after a meeting between Eng.
Ahmed Abd Elgawad, Eng. Hany Elbehairy (wasco) and Eng.
Sameer Nada (HCH representative) we decide to use bore scope
device borrowed from Petrobel to inspect and verify the source
of water before start dismantle.
