Facts
Excessive alcohol use among college students has heen
identified as a major public health concern (National Institute
on Alcohol Ahuse and Alcoholism [NIAAA], 2002

Excessive drinking among college students has been related


to a variety of negative outcomes including missing class
and falling behind in schoolwork, unsafe sex, accidental
injury, assaults, and death

Drinking for social enhancement and for coping or emotional


escape are two of the most prominent motives related to
problematic drinking among college students
