It has received my attention that you are looking for players for your Top Ten Pitchers of 2016
issue of Sports Illustrated and we have a recommendation for you.
Clayton Kershaw, The Claw or Kid K as some like the call him, stands at 6 4, weighs in at
225 lbs., and is a lefty. He came onto the scene is 2006 where he played just 2 years of minor
league baseball before he was called up to play 2 years with the Los Angeles Dodgers. From
2008 to 2010 he played a total of 278 innings, threw 4919 pitches and hit 18 homeruns. During
his 2010 season he became a free agent where he then signed on to play with the Nashville
Warriors for eight seasons. In his time with the Warriors he has received numerous awards such
as the 2011, 2013 and 2014 National League pitching title, the 2014 National League MVP, 2014
Major League Player of the Year and a Golden Glove. In his short career he has earned the most
strikeouts in the NL three times, pitched 12 shutout games and faced 6,379 batters at the plate.
Not only is he an excellent player, Kreshaw is an outstanding friend, teammate and familyoriented individual. At just 27 years old, Clayton Kershaw has earned the right to be featured in
this issue of Sports Illustrated.
