Reading Questions
For next week you’re reading I Cor 12 to II Cor 10.
Answer the following:
• Make a list of the spiritual gifts Paul mentions. Is
it necessary to have one of these gifts? Why or
why not?
• What is Paul’s “orderly worship” format in I Cor
14?
• How many people does Paul say saw Jesus after
the resurrection?
• How many times is the word “comfort” used in II
Cor 1?
• What shocking “ministry” does Paul call the Ten
Commandments “carved in letters of stone”?
• What is the “ministry of reconciliation” and who is
to do it?
• Are the Macedonians rich or poor? Why is that
important to tell rich Corinth?
• What does I Corinthians 10:10 say about Paul’s
physical appearance?

Corinth, the Sequel

In Paul’s first letter to Corinth, he addresses several
problems of the “behavior modification” sort. He
addresses issues like problems with celebrating the
Lord’s supper, divisions among the church, people
getting out of line with authority, and other such issues.

In the 2nd letter to Corinth, Paul seeks to put salve on

some of those wounds, but also seems to be addressing
a growing uneasiness with the fact that Jesus has not
come yet. It appears that the Corinthians are now
getting somewhat impatient with the coming of the Lord
and are looking to other false prophets who will satisfy
their needs to see it their way.

Yet even throughout all of Corinth’s unfaithfulness, Paul

seems to love them with his whole heart, which was
modeled to Paul in the way that Jesus loved him with His
whole heart even when Paul was unfaithful.
Please don’t throw this away. If you’re not going to use it, leave it for
someone else to use.
