CHAPTER 11: STAGING

Staging is incorporating of all aspect of an event that


helps the performance to move on.
Entertainment activities
Managing lights/sound/theme/venue
capacity/sitting arrangements etc.
CHOOSING THE EVENT SITE
Choosing an event venue that is consistent with the
event purpose and theme is essential which further
helps to minimize the costs as well.
Major considerations are:

Size of the event


Layout of the site
Stage or performance area
Transport and parking
Technical support
Venue management
Inspection should be there for further monitoring.

DEVELOPING THE THEME


The theme of any event must be supported in every
aspect. Like: dcor, lighting, sound etc.
A theme can be reinforced through such activities:
Color
Art/dance
Humor

Fantasy
IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF THEME

Entertainment
Dcor-color/props
Layout (fig 11.4)
Lighting and special effects
Sound
Vision (projected images/screens/scoreboards)
Stage
Set (curtains/stairs/props etc)
Field of play

PROVIDING SERVICES
Essential services are that needs to be provided with
staging are:
Essential services (water/gas/power)
Communications (internet/phone)
Transportation and traffic management

MANAGING THE ENVIRONMENT


Pollution
Restroom facility
Cleaning
