With a passion for helping and educating others, I am writing to express my interest
in the Latin teacher position within your school district. I believe that I am fully
qualified for this position and would make an excellent addition to your staff.
I most recently completed my student teaching experience within a suburban,
public school district, teaching Latin in grades 8-12. This experience has granted me
the opportunity to expand upon my instructional technique, classroom
management, and curriculum design skills that I have developed during my time at
Duquesne University. Field experiences at many area school districts have provided
me with opportunities to execute and practice my education in various classrooms,
leading me to my student teaching placement. I am also employed as a Summer
Teacher for Higher Achievement Pittsburgh, working as a Social Studies and
Literature teacher. In working with underprivileged students, I utilize different
classroom management skills to see what works best. This experience has most
taught me to adapt according to student need and dynamic.
In all my teaching environments, I focus on formative assessments in my planning
and execution of curricula. Scaffolding toward independent practice has proven to
be most indicative of my impact on student learning, as students gradually work on
their own toward mastery. A formative approach has helped me in all aspects of
classroom teaching, and this has also taught me how to modify my methods
according to the students and class at hand. I feel that my ability to adapt and
evaluate student performance aids in all classrooms and environments.
Although this letter and my resume are only a glimpse at what I could bring to the
Latin teacher position, I would like to discuss my qualifications in more detail
