My aspiration to teach exists because I want to inspire young learners to be confident,
resourceful, curious, and socially responsible individuals. I want to provide students with the
skills and determination to become life long learners. My personal governing classroom attitude
is to strive to be Fun, firm, and fair. This is a motto I acquired from my previous practicum
mentor teacher. I will create lessons that meet the interests of my students, I will give clear and
reasonably high expectations regarding academics and behaviour, as well as consistent
consequences, and I will be rational in the way I treat each child. I am committed to the
education and personal growth of all my students.
My personal understanding of education is that it is meant to create well-rounded
individuals, to inspire students to strive for greatness, to teach young learners about the world
around them and, to get them interested in making a difference in it. I view the job of a teacher as
a facilitator of learning. To me, a teacher is someone who guides students, someone who cares
and does what they can to help their students succeed. I facilitate learning by giving students
opportunities to ask and answer their own questions, to work in groups, and to show their
learning how they deem fit.
I believe educational goals can best be met when teachers have a comprehensive
knowledge of their students, as learners, and as individuals. When teachers thoroughly
understand their students, they will be better equipped to deliver engaging lessons that meet the
interests, and academic needs of their students. I try to offer choice as much as possible in my
classroom. I have observed that my students take more ownership and interest in their work
when they enjoy learning about the topic, or they are fond of the way they get to demonstrate

their understanding. I try to value and praise student effort and hard work over intelligence. I
provide students with immediate feedback on assignments, and I constantly check for
understanding with all of my students.
I want to provide many extra curricular opportunities to my students and school. I place a
high significance on out of school activities. I see them as a wonderful opportunity for students
to develop meaningful friendship and cooperation skills. I appreciate the deep connections made
during these activities.
I hope to be an effective teacher to my students. I want to deliver purposeful lessons and
promote each students personal growth. I plan to learn from those around me, including my
colleagues and students, as I want to continue to mature as an educator.
