Inquiry Project Proposal
Throughout this semester we reviewed and discussed many different topics under
violence and none of them was interesting enough for me to choose as my inquiry project. So I
decided to take a different approach and discover what I might be able to relate to in terms of
violence. I thought back on my personal experiences with violence, my family experiences with
violence and the many violence cases through media and the community, I came to a very
distinct conclusion of domestic violence. This particular topic is considered violence because it
causes one partner of a relationship to feel intimidated by the other. It is happening all across the
world at almost any time of the day. It could happen to any man or any woman and it account for
15% of all violent crimes. Domestic violence has evolved tremendously over the past and now
has many different aspects. Domestic violence can be physical, mental and /or emotional. For
example, a man and a woman are in a relationship and every time the man gets drunk the woman
gets a fear of the man hitting her in face again.
I chose domestic violence as my inquiry project because I know several cases and
personal stories I could use as well as the cause of domestic violence, one particular victims
story and maybe one particular offenders story, etc. I also want to incorporate reliable stories
and pictures from social media: including photos, etc. My inquiry questions include the basic
five ws: when do these particular domestic attacks occur, how do the often do they occur, what

causes these attacks to occur, who do they occur to the most often, etc. I also would like to
research if there is any place to protect domestic violence victims and their families from their
abusers?
With this topic I am sure more inquiry questions would appear with research and stories,
different ideas and ways to design/ lay out my project will come up and I will always keep an
open mind and think outside of the box to ensure that my project is unique and meets all of the
requirements.
