Final Definition of Poetic
Life is full of beauty. Notice it. Notice the bumble bee, the small child, and
the smiling faces. Smell the rain, and feel the wind. Live your life to the fullest
potential, and fight for your dreams.
--Ashley Smith
Despite the lack of awareness, poetic characteristics and qualities are present in everyday
life. Poeticness works its way in various forms for different people throughout the world. It can
be seen through literature, life experiences, or even ordinary events throughout a simple day.
Therefore, the word poetic cannot be defined by simply using words. To truly understand what
something poetic entails, one must experience the three main characteristics of the word
poetic: the courage to speak ones mind, the special bonds between humans created by love, and
the goodness of mankind. Together, the three key characteristic develops a word powerful
enough that explains those special jaw-dropping moments that humanity lives for.
Throughout humanity, people have constantly strived to be accepted by everyone around
them. Because of the desire to be loved by everyone, many people have remained silent, in fear
of what others may think of their opinions. People fear that if they state or take action for how
they truly feel, others will reject and ostracize them because of their beliefs and actions.
However, the men and women who fight against the social standards to reveal their true desires
possess a poetic characteristic. For instance, Ernest Withers picture of Martin Luther King Jr.

symbolizes the courage that he portrayed in his battle against segregation. Instead of remaining
silent and allowing society to condemn his people, he spoke his mind and took actions against
the government. Kings ideals and bravery enabled him to willingly sacrifice his own life during
his fight against segregation. In addition, Peter Weirs film, Dead Poets Society, displays John
Keating, an English teacher, going against the social norm of his environment to encourage the
youth to think independently. Keatings love for his students allowed him to be brave and fight
for his beliefs. It is astonishing to think of those who have fought and sacrificed everything for
their beliefs. Their poetic actions show others how to strengthen ones mind. Since the mind of
humans is affected by their beliefs, people must disregard others opinions and let their minds
speak freely.
The reason why humans fight against the obstacles presented in life is because of the
special bonds that are established by love. For instance, Alejandro Inarritus film, The Revenant
demonstrates how a fathers love for his child will motivate him to survive in unfathomable
conditions. His love for his son constantly motivated him to overcome all of his challenges and
live to see the following day. Because love contains an immense amount of power, it can also be
used as a double-edged sword. The original poem, Its in all things, shows how love can be
incredibly painful. It states that Love is the reason for heartbreak, and questions why do we
take the risk? Humans take the risk of loving because the heartwarming feeling that love
provides is certainly beautiful. The reason why love is poetic and apparent in all things is
because it serves as one of the reasons why all organisms exist. Without a parents love, the child
would not be born and without Gods love, humanity would not exist.
The last but most important trait that defines the word poetic serves as the reason why
humanity has reached success. Human characteristics such as creativeness and wisdom can be

coined poetic, and serves as a reason for humanitys success. Furthermore, the goodness of
human nature has allowed people to help others reach new heights and those who are struggling
find a helping hand. For example, USA for Africas song, We Are the World portrays a poetic
element of human nature. The song was used to raise awareness for the struggling people in
Africa and inspired millions to join their cause in helping the poor. The development of the song
shows how the goodness of people will constantly make the world a better place. In addition, Jim
Hubbards photo, Homelessness, exemplifies how it is a part of human nature to help other
people in the need of a helping hand. Moreover, the humane actions inspire the human soul to
take initiative for the betterment of the world. Therefore, without the goodness of mankind, the
human soul would be filled with darkness and greed.
As life progresses, people will experience more poetic elements of life. From poetry
and literature to spending time with family, there will always be different poetic moments that
people will choose to savor. Although the Poetic Vision project is nearing a close, the lessons
that have been learned will remain prevalent forever. Poetic Vision teaches people to appreciate
everything life has to offer and to simply look back at all the beautiful memories that have been
created. By forcing people to pick out the enlightening and poetic experiences, the project has
inspired people to discover the value of life. Although it is a small step in the world, Poetic
Vision creates a transformation within the mind, body, and soul that will ultimately lead to the
betterment of mankind.
