To construct an equilateral triangle on a given base.

Question: Construct an equilateral triangle on the given line, 4cm long.

Construction:
(1) Draw line BC 4 cm long
(2) With radius equal to BC and with centres B and C, draw two arcs
intersecting each other in point A.
(3) Draw lines AB and AC.
Triangle ABC is the required equilateral triangle.
To construct an isosceles triangle, with the help of one equal side and one
equal angle being given.
Question: Construct an isosceles triangle with one of the equal sides being
5 cm long and one of the equal angles being 65 degree.
Construction:
(1) Draw line BD.
(2) At point B, draw angle EBD of 65 degree.
(3) Mark BA = 5cm on line BE.
(4) With radius equal to BA, (i.e. 5 cm) at centre A, draw an arc to intersect
line BD at the point C.
(5) Draw line AC.
Triangle ABC is the required isosceles triangle.
To construct a triangle, with the help of its base and the two angles at
the base being given.
Question: Construct a triangle, with its base 5 cm long and the angles
at the base 60 degree and 70 degree respectively.
Construction:
(1) Draw line BC 5 cm long.
(2) At points B and C, draw angles of 60 degree and 70 degree
respectively on either side of the line BC.
(3) Name the intersecting point of the point of the arms of the two base
angles as A.
Triangle ABC is the required triangle.
To construct a triangle, with the help of its three sides being given.
Question: Construct a triangle, with its three sides, 5 cm, 7 cm and
4 cm long.
Construction:
(1) Draw line BC 7 cm long.
(2) With centres B and a radius of 5 cm, draw an arc.
(3) With centre C and a radius of 4 cm, draw another arc to intersect
the previous arc at the point A.
(4) Draw lines AB and AC.
Triangle ABC is the required triangle.
