Native Americans
For this project I am showing a painting of a buffalo with its baby. I am choosing
this for my project because this was given to me by my grandma and she is indian
and she told me it was painted by an indian with chalk . I feel like this painting describes
the indians culture and how they like the buffalo lived on the land and where very
harmless compared to the white men. I compared it like this because of the many
events where the white americans took advantage of the indians helplessness. For
example during the Trail of Tears the white took their land and forced them to leave, and
walk thousands of miles. I feel like this is a similitude to how buffaloes are are quite
powerful but are commonly used because of their helplessness.
This Picture also really relates to the indians. The buffalo is very respected by the
indians and provided food and survival to the indians. I feel like the buffalo represents a
big part of the indian culture because the indians used the buffaloes for many things
and saw them as grate animals. The buffalo was also something that the white
americans started to kill for no reason but to cut the indians supply of food, and to make
them leave.
I have compared this picture to the indians because of it really represents the
indians and how they were discriminated and killed by the whites. The indians also
were treated more like animal by the whites than actual humans. Overall I picked this
piece of art because it really represents the indian culture, and in a was the
discrimination that was placed on the indians.
