A home is more than a house

Hello! My names Pati short for Patrcia. Im Portuguese,
Im twelve years old and I live in a town in the north of
Portugal.
I live with my family in a flat on the third
floor. Its OK., but its a bit small. Its got two
bedrooms one for my mum and dad and
another for me and my little sister. Its only got
one bathroom, but thats quite big with a bath
and shower, a wash basin and a toilet. We
spend most of our time in the kitchen and the
living room. We have breakfast in the kitchen.
Theres a little veranda with windows outside the kitchen, so my mum
washes and dries the clothes out there. In the living room weve got a dining
table with four chairs on one side. The TV, a small sofa and two armchairs are
on the other side. I sometimes do my homework on the dining table before
dinner, but Ive also got a little desk in my bedroom for reading and writing.
We havent got a garage, so our car stays outside in the street. My dad says
that when it rains he gets a free car wash!
I like my home and I feel happy and safe there. But I feel sorry for my
friend Maria. She lives in a big detached house with a garden, a swimming
pool and a garage for three cars. But her mum and dad work a lot and they
dont spend much time at home. Maria thinks theyre going to get divorced,
so shes unhappy. I suppose a good home is more than just a good house.
