To the Hiring Manager at St. Peters University: I respectfully submit my resume for consideration for the Community Director position available at St. Peters University. St. Peters Universitys dedication to creating a residence life experience that both facilitates academic development and personal growth is exciting. To contribute towards the Universitys goals and mission in the capacity of Community Director would be an incredible opportunity. Throughout my career in student affairs, I have acquired the experiences and skillset needed to fulfill and excel in the role of Community Director. As an undergraduate resident assistant, I first became familiar with the field of residence life by responding to the mental health concerns of my students, documenting breaches of student conduct code, and mediating roommate conflicts. My seasonal position as an activities coordinator for an ESL summer program allowed me to develop meaningful relationships with students during our field trips of which I was the primary supervisor. I also have significant experience in program and workshop development on a variety of topics, including leadership, social justice, and diversity. Lastly, I have earnestly sought ways to bridge gaps with other offices via programming and committees in an effort to create a student experience where each student is holistically supported to achieve academic success. In preparation for a position in residence life, I have also pursued acquiring other skills and experiences in order to become a well-rounded professional. During my undergraduate studies, I engaged students at my institution on topics critical to student wellness on a college campus, including mental health awareness, sexual assault, and relationship violence. I have also acquired many certifications relevant to a successful career in residence life, including multiple bystander intervention programs, suicide prevention training, and toxic drinking awareness training. As a result of leading a student services committee and organizing a non-therapeutic support group, I was able to become a seasoned facilitator as well. Finally, I also had the opportunity in my graduate studies to enroll in a restorative justice class designed to equip its students with the facilitation skills to conduct restorative conversations with individuals that have created harm within their community. I look forward to the opportunity to further clarify my qualifications for this position. Should you wish to contact me, I can be reached at my e-mail, ntheodore1992@gmail.com, or by phone, 315-663-1964. Thank you for your consideration of my application for the position of Area Coordinator. Sincerely, Nolan Theodore
